Environmental escience spans length and time scales from the global to the molecular. In escience, we face the challenges of complex data management and combinatorial studies using grid computing methods. Increasingly it becoming essential for problems in the environmental sciences to be tackled by distributed collaborations.

The NIEeS wiki for grid information

This wiki site is designed to be a wikipedia for environmental escience. It is hoped that this will become a useful repository of information in the wide area of computing, data and collaborative grids, tailored to the needs of environmental sciences. You can use this in two ways, either by browsing through links (see below for some starting points) or by using the search buttons on the left.

We are enabling community members to edit the entries, as per the spirit of wikipedia. However, to avoid wiki-spam we require you to ask for an account for yourself and log in before you edit.

This site is managed by the National Institute for Environmental eScience (NIEeS).

NIEeS test services

The NIEeS is supporting the following test services:

• Using NIEeS Cluster
• Storage Resource Broker
• Access Grid
• Grid computing

The NIEeS will offer

• Remote access to test facilities, including user accounts, disk space etc
• Documentation tailored for these facilities
• Personal help to use the test facilities
• Help to integrate these within existing applications, or to develop applications to work within these resources
• Opportunity to visit the NIEeS to work on the test facilities.

There is no formal application procedure: just contact one of the NIEeS team members.
